A beloved mother, wife, daughter and grandmother, she was the only daughter of William Jay and Darlene Alma Maloy Giesey. Born in Long Beach, Calif., June 20, 1929, she arrived in Boulder City in the late 1930's by way of the transmission lines her father help erect from southern California to Hoover Dam as an employee of the Department of Water and Power for the city of Los Angeles. The two fell in love and married at Grace Community Church in Boulder City, July 26, 1947. She was a full-time homemaker but often helped her husband in his businesses, M.J. Wood and Associates, a Las Vegas air conditioning company and the Visitors Bureau in Boulder City. She was gentle and soft spoken, enjoyed a good laugh, and loved her cats and family. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, loved square dancing with the Circle 8s with her husband and parents and, in later years, enjoyed volunteering at Emergency Aid of Boulder City. She had a special love for the Angel Tree program run by Emergency Aid at Christmas. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her four daughters, Shauna Sue Wood Christensen and Holli Ann Wood of Las Vegas, and twins Colleen Wood Corderman Thompson of Boulder, Utah and Kathleen Wood of Boulder City; as well as seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Her beautiful, gentle and radiant smile will be missed by all she touched. No services are planned.
