1925 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
JAMES SUGDEN James A. Sugden, "Jim," born April 10, 1925, on a farm in Richland County, Wis., passed away peacefully May 2, 2014, at Nathan Adelson Hospice. Jim was married to Mary Jo Gutierrez, of Santa Fe, N.M. Jim resided in Los Alamos, N.M. and Albuquerque, N.M. until 1961. Their children are Alex J., Mark F., Terese L. and Thomas P., all of Las Vegas; four grandchildren, Jeff, Chris, Matt, and Sabrina; he was also great-grandfather to six great- grandchildren. During World War II, he served at Los Alamos with the Manhattan Engineers, which became the Atomic Energy Commission for the weapons testing program at Winiwetok-Bikini, the Nevada Test Site, and Alaskan frontier test site. Upon his retirement served as a consultant in Saudi Arabia, Central Telephone Co. and Professional Analysis Company. He served as a volunteer for Nathan Adelson Hospice for 21 years, and was a Metro Police Department volunteer. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, at St Viators Cathololic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas. Refreshments to follow in the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
