JOHN CATALANO John Catalano, 82, of Las Vegas, passed away March 2, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 2, 1930, in Chicago, to Anthony and Virginia Catalano. He spent 16 years working with the Chicago Police Department prior to moving to Las Vegas in 1970. He subsequently joined the gaming industry. He spent 18 years as a gaming supervisor for Caesars Palace before his retirement in 1997. In 2006, he and his wife, Ruth, moved to Cherokee Village, Ark., joining other Las Vegas friends who had moved there. He became active in St. Michaels Catholic Church and in the Knights of Columbus. He also became an avid fisherman and a volunteer fireman. In 2010, they returned to Las Vegas due to John's health. John was a devoted family man, had a great sense of humor, loved to travel and loved to go to auctions. John was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Virginia; and very recently, his younger sister, Lenore Gilio. John is survived by his wife, of 45 years, Ruth; daughters, Cathy Ludden and Carol (Charlie) Vickers; sons, Anthony (Carol) and John (Raquel); five granddaughters, Shannon, Kelly and Deanne Ludden, Leslie Vickers and Ava Catalano; one grandson, Alessandro Catalano; nephews, Jerry and Dan Gilio; and niece, Laura Kozak. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, March 16, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive in Las Vegas.
