KAROLYN PERRY Obituary
KAROLYN PERRY Karolyn Ann Perry, of Henderson, passed away March 21, 2014, at home, with her family at her side, after a long battle with cancer. Karolyn was born Jan. 26, 1943, to Herbert and Leah Cowhick in Cresbard, S.D. Her childhood was spent growing up on the family farm in South Dakota. She met her lifetime sweetheart, James G. Perry, at his birthday party when he was four years old; they married in 1963 and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 2013. Karolyn graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. with a degree in math and Spanish and taught high school in Arizona and Florida. Karolyn and Jim were active members of the Lutheran church and Karolyn taught Sunday school for several years. She was employed at the National Institutes of Health for five years. Most recently, she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was proud of her two children, James Monroe "Monie" Perry (Lisa) of Houston, and Michelle Perry Sachs (Kevin) of Redwood City, Calif. She loved and adored her three grandchildren, Bailey (20) and Brennen Perry (18) and Bridget Sachs(9). Karolyn is survived by her husband, Jim; and two sisters, Lorene Veatch of South Dakota, and Cynthia Schaunaman of Texas. Karolyn and her family would like to thank Pastor Barnett, the members of Grace Lutheran Church and the Chimes Choir of Henderson. Thank you to her friends and neighbors, the members of the Cresbard, S.D. Methodist Church, the staff at Comprehensive Cancer Center in Las Vegas, and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Services will be Saturday, April 12, in Cresbard, to commemorate Karolyn's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the International Multiple Myeloma organization.
