LIONEL COLLINS Obituary
LIONEL COLLINS Lionel B. Collins passed away March 28, 2013 at the age of 84. He was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Chicago, to Lee and Rejoyce Collins. He was a resident of Las Vegas since 1993. Lionel graduated from Marshall High School in Chicago; Chicago Teachers' College with a bachelor of education degree; and he received a master of science degree in human services administration from Spertus College of Judaica in Chicago. He was in a Ph.D. program at Northwestern University-Chicago and also a Ph.D. program from the University of Chicago. He attended the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He was a brilliant individual. Lionel taught history and social studies at Cooper Upper Grade Center in Chicago. He retired as an assistant principal of Gale School, Chicago. He also taught first graders at the Booker Elementary School in Las Vegas for one year, which he enjoyed. Lionel served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Leona, and from the marriage a son was born, Lionel B. Collins II. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen and Clarence; and sister, Lillian. Lionel leaves his beloved, Leona; son, Lionel B. (Kiim) Collins II; sister, Elliott Burke; seven grandchildren; nephews and nieces; his beloved dog, Precious; and many friends. He will forever live in the hearts of the ones who loved him dearly. He was one of a kind. No services are scheduled.
