1923 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
MARY CARSON Oct. 25, 1923 - July 7, 2014. Mary Frances Silver Carson, 90, of Las Vegas, was born Oct. 25 1923, to Xerxes and Grace Silver, in San Jose, Ill. Her family moved to Zionsville, Ind., where young Mary attended school. She went to De Paw University, graduated from Butler University, and earned her teaching degree. She was married to Fred Carson, September 1944. Together, they and their three daughters relocated to Michigan, New Mexico and, finally, Arizona, where the couple divorced in 1962. She also received her master's degree at Arizona State University. She taught school and was a guidance counselor in New Mexico, Arizona and, finally, in 1963, she started her career of over 25 years with the Clark County School District as a P. E. teacher and guidance counselor. After retiring from the school district, she became a successful marriage and family therapist, and opened her own business, Carson Counseling. Mary is survived by her three daughters, Mary Carson-Luby of Las Vegas, Grace Rose of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Cinda Oliver of Las Vegas. She also leaves four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and an extended family that will sorely miss her. She will never be far out of our thoughts. We are blessed with so many memories. There will be a prayer service and celebration of her life at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
