 MELISSA DEGAETANO Melissa R. DeGaetano, "Lisa", was born to Cynthia and Thomas Okerlund Sept. 29, 1967 in Fort Worth, Texas. Lisa, a graduate of Manhattan High, class of 1986, was proud to be the first female police officer in McPherson, Kan. She was formerly a deputy sheriff in Parker County, Texas and currently was an Alpha-Security manager at Caesars Coliseum in Las Vegas. She was a lover of all animals, especially birds and tropical fish. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Joseph Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Joseph J. DeGaetano; two daughters, Jessica Sena (Ben) and Jerrica Hoover; a granddaughter, Lillian; stepchildren, Deborah, Kim, Carol Ann, Vincent and Gabrielle; her loving parents, Thomas and Cynthia Okerlund; a loving sister, Dawn Okerlund; and a host of supporting family and friends. Viewing will be from 3-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3, at Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas. Mass will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, at St. Francis of Assisi, 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Francis of Assisi in her name.
