TAMIO MANSFIELD Obituary
TAMIO MANSFIELD Tamio Nawahiaala Mansfield, 84, passed away peacefully Sept. 26, 2013, with his wife by his side. He was married to Caroldean Oa Mansfield for 48 years. They lived an active and fulfilling life that reflected Tamio's Hawaii and Japan roots. A man who exemplified the aloha spirit, Tamio embraced everyone and touched those who enjoyed island entertainment during his worldwide travels, including in Las Vegas as a fire knife dancer. Fishing was a hobby that he looked forward to and weekend trips turned the daily challenges of work in the security field to fun and well-deserved relaxation. His interests in martial arts offered many opportunities to learn traditional karate and kendo skills, and his joy resonated throughout tournament challenges where his students excelled. A man of integrity and deep patriotism, Tamio served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Marine Corps, and enjoyed sharing stories of deep commitment to our country and its people. Tamio and Caroldean lived in Las Vegas for the past 42 years. He is survived by Caroldean; daughter, Linda McFarland; sons, Randolph and John Lambert; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Curtis Camara; and sister, Maryann Mansfield. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. His final resting place will be in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
