WAYNE ALEXANDER Las Vegas has lost an amazing man, Donald Wayne Alexander. He passed away Monday, April 14, 2014. He was a realtor for over 30 years. He was a leader in our Las Vegas and state real estate industry, and he was an avid UNLV Running Rebels Basketball fan! Wayne was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Dickinson, N.D. He was raised in Illinois and a proud member of the U.S. Navy for four years. He and his wife, Ann, moved to Las Vegas in 1964. While working at the Nevada Test Site, he studied for his real estate license, and that was the beginning of his life-long passion. Wayne was a leader on the Las Vegas Board of Realtors, serving as membership chairman, United Way fund chairman, director for four different years, and vice president and president of the Nevada Association. He was active in the Women's Council of Realtors, active on many local, state, and national realtor committees, and was inducted into the Nevada Realtor Hall of Fame in 1994. Wayne was also active in leadership at First Christian Church. He served Christian Men's Fellowship and was a trustee. He contributed on the Finance Council, Board of Elders and Executive Committee. Wayne's sense of humor will be remember by all who knew him. Wayne had a love of horses and was appointed by Governor Bryant to a three-year term of Nevada's Wild Horse Committee. He worked with local Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, Nevada Development Authority and the United Way Fund. He was a member of the Zelzah Shriners and was awarded a pi for 60 years of service as a Mason. He was preceded in death by his son, Rick; brother, Dudley; and sister, Ruth.
