iconWILLIAM KELLEY William Allen Kelley, 87, entered this life at sunrise Feb. 2, 1925, in Flint, Mich., and made his transition to Paradise April 14, 2012, in Las Vegas. He was a 23-year resident of Nevada. After serving as radioman on U.S. Navy Submarine S-45 in the Pacific in World War II, he attended and graduated from General Motors Institute. He later earned his master's degree at U.S.C. He raced Corvettes for G.M., was one of a four-man crew who designed Chevrolet's first V-8 engine. He loved flying and piloted single engine and sail planes and was a member of the Dutch Oven Society of Nevada. William married Carolyn Carman Henry in 1989 at Little Church of the West. After retiring from the Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, Calif., he became involved in the prospecting, mining and extraction of precious metals. As a wonderful companion he is sorely missed. William was preceded in death by his son, Brian Dean (10); and brother, William Webb. William is survived by his wife, of 23 years, Carolyn Carman Kelley; son, William Allen Kelly (Mika) of Sparks; brother, Mark Hazen Kelley of Flint; and cousin, Kelly Riedel of Lake Montezuma, Ariz. Memorial to be celebrated at a later date in the fall at the Blind Center. Donations can be made to the Blind Center.
