BERNARD DAVIS Bernie Davis, 65, of Las Vegas, entered eternal rest peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014. Bernie was born Oct. 5, 1948, in Massachusetts, to James and Mary Davis. Bernie was truly and lovingly known as "The Most Interesting Man in the World," a rare and special person with an enormous passion and talent for life. He was a natural-born sailor with a deep love of the sea, sun, wind, and sand. Bernie retired from his career as a Clark County construction manager and subsequently served our country honorably under extremely hazardous conditions while helping the rebuilding of fresh water and sewage services to over 100,000 Iraqi citizens. Finally, he started his new career of taking his beautiful and adoring wife on a permanent vacation. The loving couple have traveled all over the world and have enjoyed all that life had to offer. Bernie lived every day to its fullest. Our loss of Bernie is shared by many people throughout the world. Bernie is survived by his bride and soulmate, of 42 years, Susan Davis (nee Osterman). Bernie was extremely loving and proud of his four children, Margaret Godwin and her husband Barry Godwin of Las Vegas, Tacy Rossa of Summerville, S.C., Bernard F. Davis and Maria Davis, both of Las Vegas. Missing "Grampa" now are his 11 grandchildren, Christopher Godwin, Shelby Godwin, Jessica Godwin of Las Vegas, Ashlee Roberts of Bullhead City, Ariz., Hailee Rossa of Las Vegas, Dalton Roberts, currently serving in the U.S. Air Force
, Bradie Rossa, and Camden Rossa of Summerville, Brooke Davis, Emmaline Boyd and Billie Wile of Las Vegas. Bernie will also be missed by older brother, Paul Verchick of Las Vegas; and younger brother, Jim Davis of Colorado; as well as countless loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A service to celebrate the wonderful life of Bernie Davis will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas.
