BERNARD PATRICK Bernard "Bernie" Walter Patrick was born the 14th of 16 children, Dec. 11, 1927, at the Rist Place south of Goldstone, Mont. Bernie served in the U.S. Army during World War II
and was honorably discharged. He married Doris Rose Velk Oct. 10, 1948 in Havre, Mont. He graduated from Northern Montana College with a degree in elementary education. He later obtained his masters degree in natural science from Arizona State University
at Tempe. He taught school at the Minneota and Box Elder Schools over a five-year period. For the next 22 years he taught Earth science at Hyde Park Middle School in Las Vegas. Bernie cared for his wife, Doris, who was on dialysis for 17 years. She died in 1990. His passion was bridge, collecting coins and golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sadie Patrick; his sister, Gladys Patrick Smith; and brothers, Ralph, Russell, Lloyd, Clarence, Cecil, Clifford, Raymond, Wayne and Richard. He is survived by his wife, Joan; his son, Clark and daughter-in-law, Janine of Las Vegas; four grandsons, Justyn Patrick, Anthony (Teresa) Yurkonis, Joshua Kephart and Samuel (Fonzia) Kephart, all of Las Vegas; six great-grandchildren; his sisters, Ruth Meredith of Havre and Phyllis Gagnon of Chester, Mont.; and his brother, Donald (Ann) of Grafton, Iowa. He has been cremated and will be buried in Las Vegas next to his wife, Doris Patrick. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas.
