BETTY WEISSHART(1920 - 2013)

BETTY WEISSHART 2LT Betty Jane Weisshart, 93, a 39-year resident of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 20, 2013. She was born April 5, 1920. After graduating from nursing school, Betty served as a U.S. Army second lieutinent during World War II in the South Pacific and Japan. She met the love of her life, Herbert Weisshart, while attending university in 1947. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Betty worked for 35 years as a nurse delivering over a thousand babies. She spent her life caring for others. She was a member of the Mended Hearts organization. Betty loved dancing with her husband Herb. She exercised daily, enjoyed walking and swimming. Betty authored a book on authentic Chinese cooking. She loved traveling the world and lived with her family in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Boston, Washington, D.C., Vietnam, Japan and France. Her beautiful smile, dedicated friendship and delicious Chinese cooking will be missed by all who knew her. She will forever be in our hearts. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert D. Weisshart; her daughter, Candace Ann Kamm; and her son, Larry Weisshart. Betty is survived by her loving son, Curtis Lee and wife, Beverly Reilly Weisshart; grandson, Ian Weisshart and family; and granddaughter, Brigette Lee Wells and family. Betty will be interred, along with her husband, Herbert D. Weisshart, at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
