DANTE ROMANO

DANTE ROMANO Dante Anthony Romano, 80, passed away Feb. 19, 2013, in Las Vegas. Dante was born April 11, 1932, in Albany, N.Y. He was raised in Watervliet, N.Y., and graduated from Watervliet High School, where he was a star basketball player and was voted best dancer. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Dante came to Las Vegas in 1956 to become part of the gaming industry. During his career he worked his way up from dealer to shift manager. He was employed by most of the major casinos in Las Vegas before retiring in 1997. Dante is survived by his loving wife, of 55 years, Kathe Helen Romano; daughters, Kathe Romano of Las Vegas, and Karen (Tim) Cauley of Chanhassen, Minn.; granddaughters, Shelby and Bridget Cauley; sister, Helena Robinson of Watervliet; and niece, Melissa Robinson of Silver Spring, Md. Dante was preceded in death by his parents, Crescenzo and Fortunata Romano; as well as his older brother, Mario Romano. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Funeral services will be hat 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, Las Vegas. Burial, with military honors following, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
