iconERWIN RETZLAFF Erwin Edwin Retzlaff, 89, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 8, 2013. Erwin was born in Hoffman, Minn., July 2, 1923. He graduated high school in 1941 and earned a bachelor's degree before joining the U.S. Navy in 1944. After his return from service, he went on to earn a master's degree from University of Minnesota in 1948, under the GI Bill. Erwin was married to Mary Edith Baldwin, June 13, 1947. They were married 57 years. He worked as an engineer first with the Boeing Company and later on with the Aerospace Corporation. He always had a love for travel. Through the years, he enjoyed taking his family on camping trips all over the country. After his retirement, he traveled to many parts of the world with his wife, Mary, including Europe, China, Russia, and Morocco. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Edith Retzlaff; and his eldest son, Erwin Richard Retzlaff. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Alice Mary Leuthauser and Elaine Claire Hernandez; son, Frederick Karl Retzlaff; daughter, Susan Jean Hamelin; son, Steven Charles Retzlaff; granddaughters, Julia Rose Lanuza and Maureen Adrianna Hernandez; grandson, Alexander Scott Leuthauser; granddaughter, Amber Victoria Hamelin; great-grandsons, Carter Frederick Leuthauser and Joaquin Julian Lanuza; great-granddaughter, Gianna Emma Lanuza; and great-grandson, Dresdyn John Richard Leuthauser. He will be honored in an inurnment service at 8:40 a.m., Friday, April 19, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. There, Erwin and Mary will be placed together in their final earthly resting place.
