EUGENE FORSTHOFEL Eugene "Gene" Frederick Forsthofel, 84, of Fort Mohave, Ariz., passed away Oct. 14, 2013, in Las Vegas, after a short battle with brain cancer. Gene was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Dayton, Ohio, to Frederick and Loretta Forsthofel. He served in both the U.S. Air Force
and the ANG as a fighter pilot. While waiting to go into the U.S. Air Force, he was a jazz drummer in Chicago. He had a long, rewarding career as a captain with TWA Airlines. After his retirement from TWA, he went back to work as director of flight operations at Scenic Airlines. His true passion though was driving race cars. His last season of racing was at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2007 driving a Thunder Roadster. He was a true "car nut" and you would always find him in his garage working on his latest project. He lived life on his terms and was truly loved and will be missed everyday. He is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Julie Marie Lee; stepdaughter, Kimberly Sigler; grandchildren, Rebecca Lee and Michael Lee; and his faithful dog, Bam. Burial will be at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
