EUGENE FORSTHOFEL Eugene "Gene" Frederick Forsthofel, 84, of Fort Mohave, Ariz., passed away Oct. 14, 2013, in Las Vegas, after a short battle with brain cancer. Gene was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Dayton, Ohio, to Frederick and Loretta Forsthofel. He served in both the U.S. Air Force and the ANG as a fighter pilot. While waiting to go into the U.S. Air Force, he was a jazz drummer in Chicago. He had a long, rewarding career as a captain with TWA Airlines. After his retirement from TWA, he went back to work as director of flight operations at Scenic Airlines. His true passion though was driving race cars.
