SFC FLOYD ARCHER U.S. Army
, Retired Floyd Archer, 92, passed away peacefully Nov. 6, 2013, in Las Vegas. He was born in Butte, Mont., May 31, 1921, to parents Hazel and Benjamin Archer, the beloved brother to Bernice and Vernon Archer. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944. Floyd was in active combat during World War II
and the Korean War
, wounded and received the Purple Heart
. He served with the military police. He retired after 20 years. Floyd had been a resident of Las Vegas since 1994, when he moved here to be close to family. He was the loved and devoted father to Ervon Brown of Visalia, Calif., Billy Wagley of Abilene, Texas, and Mary Barras of Las Vegas; beloved grandpa to Morrison Wagley, Michelle Cavill, Michaelanne Marshall, Sandy Wagley (deceased) and Lalena Sumlin; and great-grandpa to 14. He was truly one of the finest of our diminishing "greatest generation." Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
