GENE JONES Gene Paul Jones, 77, of Litchfield Park, Ariz., also known as Gene Ellison Jones with the Screen Actors Guild, passed away May 25, 2014. He was born July 18, 1936, in Shaw, Miss. He served in the U.S. Navy
. He then moved to Phoenix, where he served as a motorcycle police officer
for eight years. Gene then moved to Las Vegas in 1970, where he joined the North Las Vegas Police Department as a sergeant and a homicide detective. He retired Aug. 11, 1991. Upon retirement, Gene attended acting workshops at the Performing Arts Center of Nevada (PACON) in Las Vegas. He soon became an actor and appeared in 10 SAG films, six local theatre productions, numerous commercials and several modeling gigs. In his free time, Gene helped out the technical film crews for TVM Productions. He loved to play tennis and golf. He loved motorcycles, stock cars and horseback riding. He was very good at archery and an expert in handguns. He was very well-known and respected in the Clark County area. Gene returned to Phoenix to finish out his retirement to be with his family in 2004. Private services are pending.
