Harry Francis Lyden(1935 - 2014)

HARRY LYDEN Harry Francis Lyden, 79, passed away June 6, 2014, at his home, in Fort Mohave,, Ariz. He was born in Butte, Mont., March 24, 1935. Harry attended St. Ann's grade school and graduated From Boy's Central High School in Butte. He attended Notre Dame and University of Washington, and served in Korea in the U.S. Army as an MP in the late 1950's. He married Stella Ann Stephenson in 1963, and adopted her son, Tim. They moved to Las Vegas, where Harry worked with his father who introduced the game of Keno to the State of Nevada. During this time, Harry worked at the Fremont Hotel, Golden Nugget and the Holiday Casino. Harry and Stella had a daughter, Amy in 1966. They divorced in 1975. Harry moved to Bullhead City, Ariz. in the 1980's, where he was an executive at the Pioneer and later at the Hilton in Laughlin before retiring. In 1992, he married Nancy Pavlovic. Harry performed as a figure skater in his youth. He loved hiking and exploring the mountains around the family summer home at Moose Lake, Mont. Later in life, he loved the desert in Nevada and Arizona. He loved music and was an accomplished pianist. He studied music theory and mathematics for most of his life and lectured at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, UNLV and in Russia and the Ukraine on the Schillinger System of Musical Composition. His website is www.schillingermusic.com He learned to speak Russian in his leisure time. He will be remembered for his brilliant mind, great story-telling ability, sense of humor, and his kindness. He was a lifelong Mason and loved animals, especially his many cats! His grandchildren affectionately called him "Poppy." Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Michael Lyden and Mae Rose Murphy Lyden; and son, Timothy Lyden. Harry is survived by his wife, Nancy Lyden; sister, Alice Oechsli of Polson, Mont.; daughter, Amy Lyden (Mark Lorenzetto) of Sydney, Australia; grandchildren, Christian and Imogen Lorenzetto of Sydney, and Austin, Jacob and Samantha Lyden of Jackson, Calif.; and nephews, Joseph Oechsli and family of Montclair, N.J., and George Oechsli and family of Eden, Texas. Private services for the family will be Friday, June 20. Arrangements are under the care of Desert Lawn Funeral Home in Bullhead City.
