Harry Stathos(1931 - 2017)

MAJ. HARRY STATHOS U.S. Air Force, Retired Major Harry K. Stathos, U.S. Air Force (ret.), 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at his Las Vegas home, after a lingering illness. Harry was born November 25, 1931, in Portland, Oregon. In 1954, he graduated from Oregon State College. It was after college that he entered the U.S. Air Force. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he became a pilot and served his country for 22 years. During this time, he was awarded the Air Medal for his meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. He was discharged in 1976 with full honors. In 1952, he married the "love of his life," Jo Anne Stathos. They celebrated 65 years of marriage and "still liked each other!" Harry is survived by his wife, "Joey" as Harry fondly referred to her; two children, Sherrie Stathos and Harry Keith Stathos Jr.; four grandchildren, Andrew McKown, Sonya Carpenter, Ryan and Roxanne Stathos; and three great-grandchildren. During his retirement, Harry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a fitness enthusiast and an avid skier, frequenting the slopes at Park City, Utah. Jo Anne would like to express a special thank you to Sonya, Don, Angie, Ray and the team from Harmony Hospice who were providing help and support to both Harry and Jo Anne during Harry's illness. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 5, at Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89102.
