JEANNE BASTIAN Jeanne Alice (nee Quigley) Bastian, 94, a retired nurse, of Las Vegas of over four years, passed away peacefully Feb. 12, 2013 (nine days short of her 95th birthday), with family present. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Quigley and Ida (Belanger) Quigley; her brother, William Quigley; her husband, W. James Bastian; her eldest son, James W. Bastian; and her father and mother-in-law, Willard A. Bastian and Marie Frances (nee O'Brien) Bastian; her sister-in-law, Hazel Susie Bastian; and her late-in-life friend of the family and long-time companion, John DeLong. She is survived by her sister, Ruth (Quigley) Harris of Connecticut; her granddaughter, Emma Olivia Ascott Bastian of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and many relatives and nieces and nephews in Connecticut. Jeanne made fast friends and leaves behind many new friends from Destinations at Oakey Senior Apartments, Las Vegas, as well as numerous friends accumulated throughout her life and career. She was a Red Cross certified nurse, trained at Holy Cross Hospital in Connecticut, and a World War II
veteran. She worked at Sunrise Hospital, Las Vegas, 1978, Cedars Sinai Hospital and UCLA Hospital. Neptune Society will be handling funeral arrangements and her ashes will be scattered off the Santa Barbara, Calif. coast to join those of her late husband, James (1983); and son, Jamie, (2011). A memorial service was previously held Saturday, Feb. 16 at Destinations at Oakey.
