JULIE GOLDBERG Julie L. Goldberg, of Las Vegas, a detective, passed away peacefully at NSVH Boulder City, Dec. 6, 2013. He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in lower east Manhattan, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
, serving from 1943-1946. In 1988, he was honored by the Optimist Club 21st Annual Respect For Law Luncheon, and again in 1993. In 1989, he was named "Man of the Year" by the Boxing Hall of Fame. In 1993, he was presented the Attorney General's Silver State Citizen Award "for those who go the extra mile to help our state be a better place for all." In 1995, this 42-year Las Vegas Police and Metro veteran turned in his badge. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph "Jo Jo." He is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Janie; daughter, Janie S. Silvaggio; grandson, Kristin Silvaggio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private.
