KAREN GRANT Karen Jean Grant, 59, passed away in Las Vegas Jan. 17, 2013. Born Dec. 3, 1953, she is survived by her mother, Jean Grant; her siblings, David Grant and wife, Michele Tombari, Lauren Van Winkle and husband, Bill, and Samuel Grant; her nieces, Sarina Grant, Sundari Allen and Sara Sumpter; and nephews, Alden Grant and Robert Van Winkle. Being the eldest, Karen was looked up to by her siblings. A native Las Vegan, Karen graduated from Western High School, where she was an indispensable part of the Four Amigos. She attended Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Calif. where, as an art major, she displayed exceptional artistic ability. Her first job was working as a dealer for her family-owned casino, Honest Johns. She then joined the stagehand union and worked in the wardrobe department for the Lido de Paris show at the Stardust. She continued in the gaming industry with jobs at the Gold Coast and Stations casinos. In her personal life, her passion for animals was extraordinary. No services are planned. Her kind and generous heart will be missed by all her family, friends and co-workers.
