Las Vegas Strip Shooting Victims

Fifty-eight people are dead and more than 500 injured after a gunman opened fire on a concert outside the Mandalay Bay casino hotel in Las Vegas Sunday, Oct. 1.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the shooting took place during the final night of the three-day Route 91 country music festival, while singer Jason Aldean was performing.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo announced that police found the suspect dead of an apparent suicide inside his 32nd-floor hotel room.

Aldean shared thoughts of shock and community after the shooting: "It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night."

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval extended sympathy to the survivors: "A tragic and heinous act of violence has shaken the Nevada family. Our prayers are with the victims and all affected by this act of cowardice."

Further condolences came from President Trump, Vice President Pence, former President Obama, Pope Francis, and countless others.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, the Clark County Coroner’s office released the official list of those who died in the shooting. The Review-Journal has reported and written stories about each of them individually; click here to see photos and tributes to all 58.
