LOWELL THOMAS Lowell E. Thomas, 78, passed away July 17, 2013 in Mesquite. He was born Jan. 27, 1935, to James and Olive Thomas. Lowell was raised in Oswego, N.Y., where he met and married the love of his life, Ann. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served in the Korean and Vietnam wars before retiring in 1973. After his military service, Lowell worked for the Federal Aviation Agency for 21 years, retiring in 1994. Upon his retirement, Lowell was awarded the American flag that was flown above the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. in honor of his 42 years of service to his country. Lowell and his wife, of 59 years, Ann, moved from Huntington Beach, Calif. to Mesquite upon his retirement in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Ann; brother, Charles Thomas (Glenora Wright); sons, Jim and Brett; and daughter, Beth. Lowell was blessed with six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mesquite Cancer Help Society, P.O.
