MARYELLEN WENDRICKS

MARYELLEN WENDRICKS MaryEllen Wendricks, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Dec. 22, 2012. She was born in Hamtramck, Mich., Feb. 12, 1932 and moved to Kenosha, Wis. in 1961, where she worked as a waitress and restaurant owner. She moved to Las Vegas in 1978. After working office temp jobs, she found her "work home" at Braewood Heritage Square as the office manager. A longtime member of Catholic Daughters at St. Viator's Catholic Church, she volunteered her time to help others in need. She also enjoyed her association with the Red Hat Ladies, playing Bunco and hanging out with her friends from the Senior Center, especially Chuck, Carrie and Nealy. She loved traveling, going to movies, plays and shows, eating good food and having a glass of wine, especially with friends and family. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her kind heart and big smile (always with lipstick!). She was preceded in death by grandson, Zach Bellee. She is survived by her daughters, Anna-Marie (Sam) Alessi of San Marcos, Calif., Jeri (Ron) Schmitz and Cynthia (Marty) Schierenberg III of Kenosha, and Tina (Bill) Ziolek of Wild Rose, Wis.; her grandchildren, Marty, Nina, Heather, April, Vince and Greg; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, Jan. 11, at Valley Funeral Home, 3919 Raymert Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89121. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Catholic Daughters of the Americas, c/o St. Viator's Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89121.
