NIKKIA BANNISTER-MCKINNEY Nikkia Bannister-McKinney, of Las Vegas, passed away July 7, 2013. She was born in Tucson, Ariz., Aug. 29, 1979. She was a graduate of Southside High School in Greenville, S.C. She received her bachelor of science degree from Winthrop University and a master's degree from both University of Phoenix and Walden University. She was twelve credits away from completing her PhD at Walden University. During her teaching career, she was employed as an elementary teacher with several school districts across the country. She is survived by her father, Rev. Everon (Tandy) Bannister; mother, Betty (Felix) Glasco; grandmother, Lula Bannister; husband, Ralph McKinney; daughter, Arielle Meikle; son, Aaron Bannister; four stepdaughters, Ty'ja, Kala, Lea and Amia McKinney; sisters, LaToya (Michael) Guidry and Yasmin Bannister; father and mother-in-law, Ralph (Barbara) McKinney; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, with funeral services following at noon, both at Palm Mortuary-Downtown, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Inman, S.C.
