ROSALIE BOULWARE Rosalie H. Boulware, long-time resident and community activist of Las Vegas, passed away June 12, 2014. Rosalie was born April 23, 1938, in South Bend, Ind. She moved with her former husband, Dr. Frederick T. Boulware to Las Vegas in 1971. For her entire life in Las Vegas, she worked with many civic and civil rights organizations to advocate for the interests of the most disadvantaged and underserved of our community. She fought against racial discrimination in education, housing and employment. For many years, she was an active booster of UNLV's athletic department, especially its basketball team. From 1993 to 2013, she was employed as a staff administrator by the Southern Nevada Workforce Investment Board, assisting in the administration of millions of dollars in federal grants for unemployed and underemployed Nevadans. She extended her love and grace to all she found in need. She will perhaps be best known for her dedication to her three sons and her grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. With her support and commitment, her sons were able to graduate from Harvard University
and Stanford University and go on to lead successful professional lives. She lived by the maxim: "Love life, your family and your community and they will love you back if you let them." She is survived by her sister, Eunice May Pope and brother-in-law, Thomas Pope; and her nephew, Christopher Pope and his wife, Joyce Pope and their children, Zoe and Chloe; her son, F. Thornton Boulware III and daughter-in-law, Wendy Boulware and their children, Frederick, Isabela and Sofia; her son, Jonathan E. Boulware and daughter-in-law, Yvette Boulware and their daughter, Elizabeth; her son, Judge Richard F. Boulware and daughter-in-law, Dr. Nancy Brune and their children, Oniana, Kahlil and Zafeen; her former husband, Dr. Frederick T. Boulware Jr.; her nephew, Elvin T. Campbell and his wife, Shelly Campbell and their children, Elvin, Jada, and Colin. Services will be at 11 a.m, Saturday, June 21, at Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave., Las Vegas.
