SHIRLEY VINZANT

SHIRLEY VINZANT Shirley May Vinzant died peacefully in her sleep Dec. 20, 2012. She was 86, and a 52-year resident of Las Vegas. She was born Shirley May Gallegos in San Luis Obispo, Calif., March 7, 1926, to the parents of Harry and Daisy. She worked as an airplane mechanic during the war and was a supervisor at the Pacific Press. Later, she opened her own knit shop called Spin and Knit. She married the love of her life, Paul Vinzant, April 14, 1944. They had four children. They moved to the Las Vegas valley in the 1960's and set down roots that have since grown to five generations. They started the very successful Vinzants Pool Plastering that went to employ many family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; lifelong husband, Paul Vinzant; daughters, Barbara Knight and Dona Payne and son-in-law, Guy Corely; granddaughter, Sheri Osborn; and great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Hanover. She is survived by her son, John Vinzant and wife, Kathy; daughter, Edna Corley; sons-in-law, Barry Payne and Martin Knight; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Solari Hospice Care nurses, JoAnn, Joan and Dona for the care they gave our mother over the past months. We would like to give special thanks to Benji, Nixon and Marisol for taking such good care of mom, for loving her and making her laugh. You guys are the greatest. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.
