THOMAS BUTCHER

THOMAS BUTCHER Thomas M. Butcher, 94, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013, with his family at his side. He was born in Duquesne, Pa., March 5, 1919, to Mary (nee Perlic) and Vido Butcher. He was educated in Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He married Violet (nee Dubaich) Butcher, May 10, 1945. He retired in 1983 after working 44 years for U.S. Steel in Duquesne. During those years he and his wife and mother-in-law, Mary Kecman, owned the 499 Bar in West Mifflin, Pa. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather to his son, Ron; and grandson, Ronnie Jr. He was a kind and gentle man and loved by everyone who ever met him. After moving to Las Vegas in 1989, he enjoyed life with his wife, Violet; and his beloved doggies, Pucci and Keno. For many years he was a member of St. Viator Catholic Church. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He will be remembered for his quick wit and kindness to everyone he ever met. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Vido; sisters, Mary "Mamie" and Sophie "Josie;" and brothers, Matthew "Mutt," Nick and Joseph "Bunker." Tom is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver, Violet; son, Ronald; daughter-in-law, Nancy; grandson, Ron Jr.; sister, Rose; and many nieces and nephews. Private memorial services are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA.
