THOMAS JACKSON JR. Aug. 6, 1935-Dec. 2, 2013 Thomas Jackson Jr. passed away Dec. 2, 2013 in Henderson. He was born Aug. 6, 1935, to Tom and Lillian Sanders Jackson, in McComb, Miss. Thomas attended DuSable High School, entered the U.S. Marine Corps
Oct. 11, 1955 and received a National Defense Service Metal Award in October 1956. He served in the Korean War
and was awarded an honorable discharge. Thomas worked in the construction industry and later worked for the Chicago Public School System as a maintenance engineer under James R. Madigan, building engineer. He later met and married Ruth F. West and just recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. From their union, five children were born, Thomas and Steven, who preceded him in death, Louis (Beverly), Kenneth (Pat, deceased) and Tyrone. He leaves to mourn his four grandchildren, Joe Goosby (Lanise), Joseph Pierce, Jenelle (Dante) and Louis Jackson Jr.; and three great grandchildren, Nia, Maya and Janiyah Faith. The Jackson family has also embraced as a special son, Mark James. Thomas is survived by LaVerne, the wife of cousin, James Woods (deceased); and by a host of nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Family Word Christian Center, 3845 E. Patrick Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89122.
