WILFRED LEONARD

iconWILFRED LEONARD Wilfred J. "Bill" Leonard, 85, passed away Dec. 24, 2012. A 22-year resident of Las Vegas, he was a retired engineer, having working at Aero jet-General, General Atomics and Flour-Daniel. His last assignment in Las Vegas was as a manager on the Yucca Mountain project. He served in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Army during the tail end of World War II, and the Korean (including a temporary assignment with the First Marine Division in the winter of 1950) and the Vietnam wars. He was born in Milwaukee, where he lived off and on until high school graduation. Other than his time in the service, he lived for many years in California. He attended San Diego State University and the University of California at Los Angeles, and earned bachelor's and master's degrees. The cremains are with Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Memorial services, where his ashes will be interred, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery chapel, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
