ALAVA TALALASI Obituary
ALAVA TALALASI Alava Talalasi (Soa) departed life on Earth Monday, May 8, 2017, after being life-flighted from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City on Sunday, May 7, 2017. He will be revered and sorely missed by family and friends. He was a candid and refreshing soul, easily given to friendly generosity. Alava was born Sept. 4, 1953, to Talalsi and Emeline Soa, in Faleniu, American Samoa. He grew up, the eldest of seven siblings. At the age of 17, he sailed for Honolulu, where he graduated from Admiral Arthur W. Radford High School in 1971, thereafter following his parents to Seattle. Of those years, he recounted adventures working on Alaskan Crab boats. He worked for a time in California before moving to Las Vegas where, rising together over difficult circumstances, he met and married Chantell Marie Everett of New Orleans in December 2012. Together, they had a son. Alava was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tao. He is survived by his wife, Chantell; their son, Alema (6); his brothers, Ene, "Junior" and Robert; sisters, Nyretti and Sinedou; son, Mario; and stepchildren, Joey, Shawna, Sonja, David, Jasmine, Ariana and Magalli. In their years together, they became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sealed for eternity in the Las Vegas Temple in 2016. Memorial services will be observed at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the LDS Meetinghouse, 1625 Palora, Las Vegas.
