BOYD DEAY Obituary
BOYD DEAY Boyd Richard Deay, 48, a retired bartender, of Las Vegas, passed away Nov. 26, 2012. He was born Sept. 9, 1964, in Kansas, and was a 22-year resident of Nevada. Boyd attended Arizona State University, and lived for a time in Spokane, Wash. In his youth, he was employed by the 4 Queens Hotel and Casino for 11 years, The Mirage Hotel and Casino, and was on the opening team of Paris Las Vegas, working in a variety of beverage outlets, the last of which was the former fine dining room bar at Paris. He was recognized for his outstanding customer service and friendly manner. He was an avid reader, collected ancient coins, and in his retirement traveled to Barcelona, Paris, Florence, Siena, Pisa, San Giamingiani, Buenos Aires, Can-Cun, Puerto Vallarta and London.He spoke fluent Spanish. He was a member of the Bartenders Union of Las Vegas, and was known for his extrordinary generosity to his friends and colleagues. His kindness and loving nature were among his outstanding qualities. Although he never married, as an out and proud gay man he was in a domestic partner relationship with his life partner, of 17 years, Michael Hartzell, at the time of his passing. His favorite quote from a song called "No Day But Today"..."Have no regrets, or life is yours to miss!" He was preceded in death by his mother, Delgean Compton Olson. He is survived by grandmother, Dell Crossman; sister, Danita McCann; half-brother, Ron Colvin; stepfather, Joe Colvin; loving great-aunt, Mary Siegfried; great-uncle, Milton Siegfried; aunts, Robin Becker, Juanita Colvin, Cathy Schuller and Diane Velasco; uncles, Charles Compton, George Compton, James Dalton and Paul Dalton; step-uncles, Larry Colvin and Kenneth Colvin; neices, Shannon, Wendy and Briana; nephew, Adam Smith; and numerous cousins. His Las Vegas family of caring friends includes Rachel Austin, Jodi Percey and Barbara Warkmeister. No services are planned per his wishes. Contributions may go to Golden Rainbow.
