BRUCE STROUD July 31, 1959Aug. 30, 2017 The world lost a little bit of it's shine Wednesday, August 30, 2017. A man who stood for integrity, honor, duty, love for his family and friends, strength, compassion, fairness and purpose was taken on to Glory. His legacy lives on in everyone who has come into acquaintence with him and his memory will live in our hearts and minds forever. Bruce David Stroud was born July 31, 1959, in Gary, Ind., to Willie Stroud and Bobbie Levi (both deceased). Bruce joined the U.S. Army at age 16 and remained in the service for eight years, doing two tours in the Army. Stationed in Hawaii, Bruce chose to remain there after he was honorably discharged and began his career working in Corrections at OCCC in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1998, Bruce moved to Las Vegas, where he continued his career working for the Nevada Department of Corrections. He received numerous promotions ultimately obtaining the position of Associate Warden at High Desert State Prison. Bruce was a man of "Character" and all who knew him loved and respected him. He was a quiet storm, good listener and faithful friend. Bruce left behind the love of his life, Lovie Jones-Stroud; sons, David James Stroud, Delvin Cadiente of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Winona "Nona" Jones (Shawn) of Jacksonville, Fla., Darlene Jones of Atlanta, Ga., Jenna Fenton and Portia Jones of Las Vegas; brothers, Maurice Calloway ofLas Vegas, George Bethea of Gary, Ind.; sister, Terrie (Robert) Keuchler of Pickerington, Ohio; grandchildren, Lavonne and Jessie; great-grandchildren, Laniah and Kealani; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Celebration of his life will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, September 9, at the Ron Decar Event Center, 1201 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89104.
