CARL GROVE Carl Grove, 83, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012. He was born Nov. 29, 1928 in Tyrone, Pa. He served in the U.S. Navy band from 1950-1954 and traveled with "Big Bands" to pursue his career as a professional saxophone musician. He moved to Las Vegas in 1966, where he continued his career on the Las Vegas strip in many Las Vegas show bands and lounge acts. He formed his own band in the early 1980's called the "Carl Grove Combo" and he continued to actively perform locally for a wide variety of musical engagements. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, of 35 years, Yvonne Grove, who passed away in November 2011. Carl is survived by his brother, Jim Grove of Bethlehem, Pa.; daughters, Carol Shaw of Nolanville, Texas, and Shelly Thomas of El Paso, Texas; son, Robert Grove of Sevilla, Spain; and stepson, Gib Ganschow of Las Vegas. Carl is also survived by five grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Tripp, Kayla and Darci. Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas.
