CARLOS RAMIREZ Carlos Castro Ramirez, 59, of Las Vegas, passed away Dec. 5, 2011. He was born July 22, 1952, in Mexico City, Mexico. He was a mechanic for many years up until becoming disabled due to a stroke and a heart attack in 1996. Carolos became involved in many nonprofit organizations. He lead aquatic therapy classes at the YMCA for stroke survivors, was involved with the American Heart Association, Knights of Columbus, American Stroke Association, American Diabetes Association, and well as Latinos together against diseases. His true passion was running which is why he trained with the Las Vegas running team, As a stroke survivor, Carlos completed many running marathons here in the U.S. to bring awareness to many heath related causes, and was recently invited to run in the 2012 Boston Marathon. He was preceded in death by his father, Priciliano Ramirez; and grandmother, Luz De Moreno. He is survived by his mother, Rosa Castro; sister, Maria Pawelec; his three children, Margarita Ward, Carlos Ramirez, Jr. and Samuel Angel Ramirez, all of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Sergio, Anthony, Andrew, Caitlyn, Bridget and Sophia; and many loving friends. Viewing is 9:30 a.m., with services starting at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, at Our Lady of Las Vegas, 3050 Alta Drive. Burial will take place at Memorial Garden following services.
