CAROL SPAULDING Obituary
CAROL SPAULDING Carol Maxine Spaulding, 80, passed away peacefully Nov. 28, 2012, at her Henderson home. Carol was born in Horton, Kan., Feb. 24, 1932, to Carl and Lena McClellan. She married her beloved husband, John, Nov. 17, 1956. Together, they raised six children and were married 56 years, both of which Carol was profoundly proud. John and Carol moved to Henderson from Dixon, Ill. in 1973. John relocated first to begin work and Carol packed up the house and carted five children cross-country by herself in a Chevy station-wagon, pulling a large U-Haul. They bought their first house in 1973, and Carol quickly made it a home. Her greatest joys were her family and maintaining a happy home. She was an avid card player and belonged to many bridge clubs, and also played pinochle at the Henderson Senior Center. She could put together a 1500-piece puzzle in mere days, and she could color a picture in a coloring book and make it look like an oil painting. She will be remembered for her million dollar smile, her witty sense of humor, her kindness and loving nature. Carol was preceded in death by her two sons, Larry A. Untiedt and John E. Spaulding. She is survived by her husband, John D. Spaulding; daughters, Rhonda D. Lem, Joan L. Hammer (Jim) and Amy L. Updike (John); son, Marc A. Untiedt; sister, Patricia Dane (Paul); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 3. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, both at Palm Mortuary-Henderson, 800 S. Boulder Highway.
