CHARLES ABAIR Charles Albert Abair, 92, of Henderson, passed away peacefully July 20, 2011. He was born Feb. 2, 1919 in Southington, Conn., and was an 11-year resident of Nevada. He was preceded in death by both parents; and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, of 68 years, Charlotte Shepard Abair; three children, Brenda Brazil, C. Terry Abair (Rita) and Wendy A. Kalb (Steve); five grandchildren, Ricky Brazil, Megan Bauman, Justin Kalb, Ben Abair and Hilary Schmutz; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Charles' career as a life insurance agent for Mass Mutual (MM) began at the age of 19, where he worked for 50 years retiring at the age of 70. He moved to Phoenix in 1953, bringing MM to Arizona serving as its first general agent, known as a recruiter of quality people, multiple winner of the National Quality Award and founder of the Arizona Life Underwriters. He was CLU, Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table, member of the MM Inner Circle and President's Club. Charles was active in the community and his church. He worked for the United Way Fund, American Red Cross, Y.M.C.A., Prescott College Founding Fund, Boy's & Girl's Club of Phoenix, El Zaribah Shrine and Kiwanis. Charles and Charlotte moved to Las Vegas in 2000 spending his last years close to his two daughters and their families. Charles lived a long, full life and will be missed by his family and friends.
