CONNIE LOPEZ Obituary
CONNIE LOPEZ Connie Jo Lopez, 59, of Henderson, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in her home. Connie was diagnosed with multiple system atrophy in 2010. She was born May 10, 1953 in Walla Walla, Wash., to Dick and Frances Smith. Connie enjoyed working as a ward clerk on the mother/baby unit at St. Rose Dominican, Sierra Hospital in Henderson for 11 years. Connie also worked at PeaceHealth Hospital in Eugene, Ore. for over 20 years, before moving to Henderson. Connie enjoyed the outdoors, camping, crabbing, hunting and helping raise her seven grandchildren. She took great pride in being a hands-on grandmother. These grandkids were her life. She is survived by parents, Dick and Bonnie Smith of Oregon; husband, John Lopez of Henderson; siblings, Peggy Juarez of Henderson, Gary Smith of Henderson, Jerry Smith of Henderson, and her twin sister, Cindy, of Oregon; grandchildren, Brodi Meharry, Travis Hill, Chayne Hill, Hunter Hill, Trystan Meharry, Mason Hill and Breanna Hill; and her beloved dogs, CJ and Riley. Services will be at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at 1409 Equestrian Dr., Henderson. Thank you to Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation for helping keep Connie comfortable in her last days. "If Heaven weren't so far away, I'd pack my bags and stay for a day. You were a great person, a great person indeed. You were always there whenever I was in need. You raised me up in a safe, big world. I'm glad I had the chance to be your little girl. You taught so many people the true meaning of fun, including me and Q when we were playing in the sun. You always had a smile on your beautiful, warm face. God did the right thing by taking you to a good place. Even though we miss you and we slowly grow apart, I will always have a place for you right here in my heart."
