DALE BURKHISER Dale Parent Burkhiser, 90, of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012. He was born May 12, 1922, in Moline, Ill., to Grace Fielty Burkhiser and William Henry Burkhiser. Dale moved to southern California as a young boy and lived there until he moved to Las Vegas in 1954. Dale served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, was married to Evelyn Conklin and had four children. After discharge, he was employed as a mechanic for Slick Airways, then later, as a manager, for Bob's Big Boy restaurants. After his divorce, Dale left southern California, moving to Las Vegas, where he worked at the Riviera Hotel, the Flamingo and the International Hotels. The International became the Las Vegas Hilton. He was employed as casino floor supervisor and was respected for his honesty and integrity. In November 1966, he proposed to Elizabeth Marhold and upon their marriage in March 1967, he helped raise her seven-year-old son, who always considered him his own father. Dale had a great love for horses, they played an important part in his life and his family's. Dale is survived by his wife, of 45 years, Elizabeth; his four children, Linda Blue, Judith Welch, Leonard Burkhiser and William Todd Marhold; his three grandsons, Larry, Matthew and Jaime; and two granddaughters, Ashley and Celeste. The family would like to thank Comfort Hospice Care for their kind and considerate care for Dale and consideration to Elizabeth and her family. No services at this time.
