DAVID GOGIAN David Scott Gogian, 50, of Topeka, Kan., passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, in the line of duty while honorably serving his community. David was born May 19, 1962, in Lynwood, Calif., son of Frank and Saundra (Rowland) Gogian. He graduated from Eldorado High School, Las Vegas, and later earned his master's degree in criminal justice at Washburn University, Topeka. David married Simona Edington Dec. 12, 1996. David served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1981-1986 and the Kansas Air National Guard from 1991-2010, retiring as a senior master sergeant. He became a reserve police officer in 1992 for the Topeka Police Department. David later became a full-time police officer in 2004 for Topeka Police Department, where he was involved in the Community Police Unit, the Gang Task Force and most recently, the Traffic Enforcement Unit. He was a member of the Topeka Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 3. David served alongside his eldest son, Brandon, with Topeka Police Department. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Lance Gogian. David is survived by his wife, Simona Gogian; children, Brandon (Jennifer) Gogian, Samantha (David) Brown, Joshua Gogian and Colin Gogian; granddaughters, Lila Brown and Gwendolyn Gogian; parents, Frank and Saundra Gogian; and siblings, Lawrence Gogian, Tiffany Gogian and Drew Strong. David will lie in state 1-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, where the family will greet friends 4-7 p.m. Friday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, all at the Kansas Expocentre, One Expocentre Drive, Topeka. Burial following, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 6th Gage, Topeka.
