DEANNA VAZQUEZ Deanna Vazquez, 69, passed away Sept. 18, 2012, with her family by her side in Las Vegas. She was born July 12, 1943, in Delano, Calif., to Louis and Francis Armendarez. Her father, a field worker, came to California from Knickerbocker, Texas. Her mother, a nurse, was born in Pond, Calif. Both moved to Porterville, Calif. in 1993. Deanna was raised in Earlimart, Calif., but in 1964, Deanna moved to Nayarit, Mexico, with her husband. In 1973, she and her family moved back to the States, to Las Vegas. In 1992, she moved to Porterville and worked in a women's shelter for several years. More recently, she worked with her brother, Steven Armendarez, as an insurance agent representative, until January 2012. She was president of the Earlimart Funeral Fund, which raises funds to help families with funeral expenses in the Earlimart area. Her interests included family, crocheting, sewing, quilting, going to the movies, and more than anything else, reading. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David Armendarez and Steve Armendarez. Deanna is survived by her six children, Louie Vazquez, Manuel Vazquez, Oly Embry, Angel Vazquez, David Vazquez and Blanca Vazquez; sisters, Cruz Gaytan and Sara Armendarez; brothers, Louie Armendarez and Adrian Armendarez; grandchildren, Brianne Kaminski, Jacob Vazquez-Mendoza, Layla Lou Vazquez-Mendoza, Juno Paz Vazquez-Mendoza, Elizabeth Vazquez and Louie Vazquez; son-in-law, Eddie Mendoza; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Kaminski and Baylee Kaminski. Catholic Mass services will be at 9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 28, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Porterville.
