EDWARD COUTTA' Edward William "Bill" Coutta', a.k.a. Santa Bill and Mr. Polka Dot the clown, 80, of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Because he was so patriotic, he chose the Fourth of July to return to his Heavenly home. Bill was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edward M. and Elsa Emma Conde. Bill and his family were residents of Las Vegas for 43 years. Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1959, he went to Brigham Young University, met his sweetheart, Linda R. Broderick, and they were married Oct. 6, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah in May 1964 with a degree in Marketing and Accounting. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in September 1964. In the military, he worked in logistics and procurement. Bill's Air Force Assignments took the family to Walker AFB Roswell, N.M., Guam, Hill Air Force Base in Utah, Woomera, South Australia, and Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas. Bill retired from Nellis AFB in June 1980. After retirement, he worked for Northrup Corp. in Saudi Arabia training the Saudi military. After returning from Saudi Arabia, he worked for United Blood Services. From there, he was the purchasing agent for the Citibank Card Services. He worked at EG&G and retired from there in 1995. Bill loved entertaining people as Mr. Polka Dot and Santa Claus. He loved keeping active doing home projects, working in his yard, on his cars and helping neighbors. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding various positions, his favorite was an ordinance worker at the LDS Temple. Bill is survived by his "bride" Linda; his daughters, Chantelle and Michael Blackburn of Boise, Idaho, and Melanie Coutta' Price of Las Vegas; 10 beautiful grandchildren and eight fabulous great-grandchildren who are the loves of his life; his beloved Doxies, Elvis, Duke and Miss Kitty; sister, Sally C Anderson of Aurora, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill's viewing will be 5-7 pm. Friday, July 14, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. Viewing again 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 15, with memorial service following, both at the Palora LDS Chapel, 1725 Palora Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89169. Burial will be at 9:20 a.m. Monday, July 17, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, in Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, Bill requests donations to the Wounded Warriors Project.org Bill also requested friends and family "wear bright colors as this is a "Joyous celebration of Bill's life".
