EDWIN HOLZMAN Obituary
EDWIN HOLZMAN Edwin Holzman, "Eddie Hall," of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012. Eddie was born in Long Branch, N.J., April 23, 1921, to Bessie and Benjamin Holzman. Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Italy in World War II. Eddie had an illustrious career as a drummer with the group, The Kirby Stone Four. The group toured the world in the 1950's and 1960's and produced multiple hit records, including "Baubles, Bangles and Beads" and "Everything's Coming Up Roses." They were frequent headliners at the Copacabana and the Coconut Grove. Eddie appeared with the group on "The Ed Sullivan Show," "The Judy Garland Show," and many, many more. The Kirby Stone Four also spent many years working in the lounges in Las Vegas and opened for such notables as Marlene Dietrich and Martha Raye. When Caesar's Palace opened their lounge, the group was tapped to headline the grand opening. In later years Eddie had his own radio show in Las Vegas called "The Jazz Trip." The show ran for many years on KNPR and allowed Eddie to spread his absolute passion for jazz music with the Las Vegas community. Eddie is survived by his partner, of over 20 years, Norma Cicalo; his son, Brian Holzman; nieces and nephews; and many, many good friends. You may have met Eddie, he probably made you a CD. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, #104, Las Vegas, NV 89147.
