EDYTHE LEAVITT Edythe Meralda Prisbrey Lytle Leavitt, 96, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in Caliente. She was born Jan. 3, 1916 in Overton, to Loren and Lydia Copper Prisbrey. She married John V. Lytle in Las Vegas, July 9, 1934. They had three children and later were divorced. She married Eather M. Leavitt in Las Vegas, Nov. 2, 1956. They were sealed March 21, 1959 in the St. George LDS Temple. He preceded her in death June 9, 1993. Edythe was raised by her mother and grandmother on the Cooper Ranch in Overton, after her father passed away when she was two. She raised her family in Las Vegas, where she was engaged in improving the schools through PTA and other service clubs. She was tireless in her service in the LDS church, serving and teaching in Primary and later in the Temple. After Eather retired, they moved to Alamo where she briefly served as the Justice of the Peace. She will be remembered as an elect lady, small in stature, large in character. She is survived by one son and two daughters, Naomi Brown of Alamo, John (Mary Jean) Lytle of Las Vegas, and Sandra (Karl) Mendenhall of Payson, Utah; stepdaughter, Judith (Shirl) Rawlings, serving a mission in Nauvoo, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 5, at the Alamo LDS Chapel. Visitation will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Alamo LDS Chapel prior to services. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery in Overton.
