ELAINE OKUNIEWSKI Elaine Okuniewski, 83, of Las Vegas, previously from River Vale, N.J., passed away July 29, 2012, at her home after a short fight with cancer. She was born Dec. 28, 1928, Elaine Elizabeth Day, in Paramus N.J. She worked as a telephone operator all her life, finishing out her career in Las Vegas working in the Thunderbird, Silverbird, Dunes and Four Queens Casinos. She retired in 2010 at 82. Her passion was the Episcopal Church, as she was an avid church goer all of her life. She is survived her sons, Edmund of Las Vegas, and Glenn of New Jersey; niece, Susan Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 10, at Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane , with a short reception to follow. Burial will take place at Davis Memorial Park, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. immediately after the reception.
