ELIZABETH HOPPERTON Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Hopperton, 81, a 16-year resident of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully July 14, 2012, after succumbing to her battle with vasculitis. She was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Cleveland. Betty moved to the Chicago area in 1971, where she finished raising her family and went to work for IRP until her retirement in 1994. She then made Las Vegas her home in 1996, where she also worked part-time in the real estate industry for several years before totally retiring several years later. During the week, Betty could be found playing bingo, penny and nickel slots with friends at several of the local's casinos near her home in North Las Vegas. On weekends, she often attended "Oldies" concerts and various shows at many of the downtown or strip casinos. Betty loved traveling and enjoyed cruises, bus tours and road trips during her retirement. Crossword and jigsaw puzzles were favorite past times, as was home decorating, reading and just living the Las Vegas life. Betty is survived by her loving son, Michael of Texas; two daughters, Susan and Vicki; son, Mark; grandson, Adam; and her beloved cat, Squeaky. She was a loving mother to her children and a wonderful friend to all who met her. There will be a family only, private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Betty's memory to the Vasculitis Foundation (vascultisfoundation.org) in a fund that has been set up in her honor. Please pledge something to help find a cure to the devastating disease that took her life.
