ESTHER SHERMAN Esther Daybook Sherman passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at 96. Esther was born Oct. 4, 1915, to Anne and Harry Daybook in Aurora, Ill. Esther was one of nine children that consisted of seven sisters and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Dr. Fred Sherman. Esther and Fred met when they were 17 and dated until they both turned 21. Early in their marriage, Esther worked in women's wear at various department stores. When World War II broke out, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and the couple moved to California, where Fred was stationed. After the war, Esther and Fred remained in California, where Fred went to college and earned his degree as a doctor of chiropractic. They moved to Las Vegas in 1964. Fred started his own practice, Charleston Chiropractic, and worked there until his retirement in 2004. Esther was a lifelong member of Hadassah, a member of TBS Sisterhood, a Sunrise Hospital volunteer and a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Sharlene (Ron) Ostrove and Louis Sherman; grandchildren, Ami (Mike) Wolfe, Dr. Joshua Flushman, and Travis Sherman; and great-grandson, Zachary Wolfe. Esther loved to cook for her family and friends. She was very artistic and did beautiful flower arranging, china painting, and decorating. Services will be at 11 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 12, at King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane.
