FLORINE MOTT Obituary
FLORINE MOTT Florine Pearl Mott (nee Haley), 90, a member of The Greatest Generation, passed away peacefully August 11, 2018 surrounded in love and reverence by her large extended family. Florine was born January 16, 1929 in Salt Lake City, one of ten children of Morley and Lila Burgess. She and her siblings endured a very difficult childhood during the Great Depression of the 1930's. She married Willard Merrill Haley in Caliente, NV, during World War II, April 30, 1944. They had two sons born in Caliente, Willard Roscoe Haley and Merrill Robert Haley; and two sons born in Elko, NV, Dale Edward Haley and Rick Dean Haley. Florine moved with her family from Elko to Las Vegas in August 1956 and began her career in food service at the Royal Nevada Hotel/Casino. She later worked at the Dunes Hotel for eight years and then Caesars Palace when it opened in 1966 until her retirement from the culinary union. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willard; nine siblings; infant grandson Merrill; and her two eldest beloved sons, Willard and Merrill. She is survived by her two sons Dale (Lisa) and Rick(Nancy); and her daughters-in-law Gunnevi of Corvalis, Ore. and Patsy of Cedar City, Utah; seventeen of her adored grandchildren, Debra, Samantha, Shannyn, Maj-Britt, Mark, Michael, Matthew, Melissa, Matt S., Lindsey, Megan, Nick, Stacey, Kelly, Jennifer, Angela and Christina; as well as her twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Florine was most happy hosting the annual family Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter celebrations which were always held at her cherished home from 1974 through 2017. Her love of family was her life, a legacy which has carried down to succeeding generations of the family. It is this way because of her kind and gentle nature; her compassion for others; and her industrious nature and her unwavering strength of character. Florine's most memorable traits were her sparkling blue eyes and quick contagious laugh. The family of "Grandma" will hold a private memorial service and celebration of her life at her residence where so many of her cherished memories were created, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018. Burial will be at a future date in Caliente at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Cemetery. Florine will be buried alongside her husband, Willard. The cremated remains of her son, Willard, will also be interred at that time. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to V.F.W Post 7114 and the Neptune Society for the kind assistance rendered to the family of Florine.
